WWTP was damaged due to hostilities and it is in an emergency condition. The feasibility study of the reconstruction project includes 4 stages: 1st stage: reconstruction of the air supply system + installation of cogeneration unit (635 kW). 2nd stage: construction of new biological treatment. 3rd stage: reconstruction of existing facilities and construction of new ones. 4th stage: construction of a new biogas plant.

Chernihiv is one of the most ancient cities in Ukraine with 1300-years history and historical monuments of the 10-18th centuries preserved. Chernihiv is the regional center of Chernihiv Region in the north of Ukraine, with area is 78.6 km², 150 km from Kyiv. The population is 285,000. It is known for its heritage, green landscapes, infrastructure, tourism. In 2022 Chernihiv was heavily ruined because of war. Due to the fruitful cooperation with the international partners the successful recovery is being implemented.
General Information
Expected results: Achievement of required parameters for wastewater effluent according to European Standards. Increased level of environmental safety by ensuring proper and stable treatment of wastewater discharged to Dnipro river and as a result to Kyiv city. Significantly reduction of electricity costs (by 639,000 kW per year or 18.25%) by installing new energy efficient equipment.
