Reconstruction of the waste landfill

The project addresses the issue of household waste: landfill capacity exceeding 85%, lack of separate waste collection and recycling, threat to environmental safety, by reconstructing the landfill in accordance with modern standards and the National Waste Management Strategy of Ukraine until 2030.

The Slavutych municipal community, with a population of over 20,000 and an area of 20.8 km², is located in northeastern Ukraine, on the left bank of the Dnieper River, 188 km from the city of Kyiv. The city was built in 1987 to house workers at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant who were evacuated after the world's largest man-made disaster. Yesterday, Slavutych was a single-industry town, but today it is a city with a diversified economy: nuclear energy, light industry, construction, trade, services, production of medical equipment, stationery, etc. Slavutych has a highly developed social infrastructure that ensures comfortable living conditions for all categories of the population. Slavutych is the embodiment of unique, environmentally sustainable, livable architecture, a laboratory of barrier-free solutions, and a cozy home for its residents and guests from all over the world.

The implementation of the project will enable: The creation of a centralized facility for waste preparation for disposal and biological treatment. High-quality service for more than 30,000 residents of four communities, including more than 2,500 IDPs, for 50 years. A reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to 2,600 tons of CO2/year. Reduce the landfill's impact on the environment through recycling. Create new jobs and modernize waste management in four neighboring communities.
